WHO WE ARE
The Institute of Healthcare Marketing of Nigeria
The Institute of healthcare marketing of Nigeria (IHCMN) was established in 2022. The idea was conceived by Col Chukwu Ogukwe Obasi PhD (rtd. Dr Obasi has been teaching the subject both in the Institute of Health Service Administration of Nigeria and other fora. The idea came about with the increased agitation for an improved healthcare delivery mandate, the increased rate of Nigerian’s best medical professionals leaving the country for better offers abroad. The question: what might be added to the current structure of our healthcare industry that can help stem or reduce the brain drain syndrome and increase enhanced healthcare delivery to patients and customers.

MEMBERSHIP
STATUS AND CATEGORIZATION
Under the Institute, members are expected to possess adequate knowledge and experience as a professional healthcare marketer and to be enrolled in four categories of:
- Corporate members: Healthcare Organisations (Hospitals, Pharmaceutical Companies, Medical Equipment Manufacturers, suppliers and sellers.
- Fellows
- Members
- Associates
What is adequate knowledge and experience for a professional healthcare marketer at any point in time will be determined by Council and the standard can be changed by the Council in its wisdom from time to time. Once Council enrols a professional healthcare marketer as a member in any of these membership categories, then that person is accorded status as such and also to bear appellations after his/her name recognizing the said membership status. To qualify for enrolment, the professional healthcare marketer applicant must: Pass the qualifying examination prescribed by the council and complete the practical training prescribed by the Institute or; Hold any other qualification accepted by the Institute for the time being or; Qualifies for enrolment as member in any of the four membership categories of the Institute.

Associate members are individuals that have been admitted into the associate membership category of the Institute after staying in graduate membership for a minimum of four years and not less than 30 years of age with a minimum of three years as a functional healthcare marketing manager or specialist.
